SUMMER INTERN
Lessons is a design studio, object shop and space for research, contemplation and experimentation. Spanning multiple disciplines, our work is defined by iterative, hands-on making, producing small-run design experiments in 3D products, homeware and fashion for brands, galleries, shops and private commissions.
We're looking for a motivated intern to join us over the summer. Someone who can bring energy, organisation and a genuine curiosity about design to help us move forward on a range of studio tasks.
WHAT YOU'LL BE WORKING ON
Communication
You'll help shape Lessons’ digital presence by developing a considered community social strategy that feels true to what we make and how we think. You’ll also be working towards the launch of a mailing list, developing ongoing website content and supporting open calls and editorial outreach. You won't just be scheduling posts on Instagram, we're looking for someone who understands how design studios communicate with integrity.
Outreach & Relationships
Researching and reaching out to retailers and stockists who align with Lessons' values and aesthetic. This requires genuine knowledge of the independent design and homeware landscape, and the confidence to make first contact on our behalf.
Research &
Design Support
Supporting ongoing studio research. We welcome fresh and innovative ideas and would like you to contribute to the development of new projects.
Studio Admin & Organisation
Keeping the operational side of the studio running smoothly. This includes managing Google Drive (inventory, imagery, incoming and outgoing invoices), basic bookkeeping and accounts admin, and general day-to-day organisation.
YOU
-
Organised and self-directed. You can manage your own time and flag when you need support. You are reliable and accurate.
-
Genuinely in touch with the independent design world; you’re in the know the about relevant brands, makers and spaces.
-
A background in design (product, interior, graphic, fashion - all welcome)
-
Comfortable with Adobe Creative suite.
-
Curious, adaptable, and happy working across both creative and administrative tasks
This is a hands-on role within a small studio but most tasks will be handled remotely. You'll get a real look at how an independent design practice operates, from making and selling objects to communicating with the wider world.
You should be available over July
To apply, send your CV and portfolio to info@lessonsresearch.com by Friday 19th June.
